I love going to Fern Creek to watch football. Mostly because of their fanbase. A great group of kids, especially basketball player Antoine "6'9" Moore and his Bucwild crew.

But 6'9 was absent Friday night when I arrived at Fern Creek and the game was even more uneventful as Fern Creek uncharacteristically committed seven turnovers.

Luckily a couple cheerleaders brought some excitement to the game tonight.

With a dead crowd, finding excited fans to talk to was going to be extremely difficult. I originally thought of interviewing a cheerleader about having to cheer in a downpour, but then I caught these two young cheerleaders doing a dance routine together accompanied by a rap.

I couldn't help but catch some of it... the rest is history. Enjoy!

Trinity Rocks Fourth Straight Title

Not very often will you see players on a high school team also play the role as the student section. In basketball, the JV team usually sits behind the bench and while they cheer the team on, there are no "cheers" done in their favor. DuPont Manual's freshman team has made an exception in the matter.

On Friday, during halftime of the Manual/Highlands game, I interviewed the freshman team's QB Andy Tillman; a wiry, but fiery kid who's got nothing but love for his Crimson varsity counterparts. And he's got plenty of company in his freshman teammates. I love to see this kind of attitude come out of ANY kid, let alone a PLAYER.

Of course the main reason I like to see it is because I was once myself a player/cheerleader. Being the 12th man on the basketball team, I would be standing almost every game on the bench with a towel in my hand waving it crazily in support of my teammates. So seeing this come out of these young boys is truly remarkable. Hopefully, there are others following suit around the area.

Best of luck to the Manual Crimsons and hopefully they'll rebound from the tough loss. One thing's for sure, they've got plenty of young support.
